Scientist Spotlight: Wendy Harrison
Wendy Harrison, Director of Solution Architecture at Dotmatics with over 25 years in bioinformatics and a PhD in Chemistry, has been with the company for 10 years, where she leverages her extensive scientific and informatics background to design customer workflows, develop robust solutions, and implement best practices to support Dotmatics' mission of creating an innovative end-to-end platform for scientific discovery.
Across the Dotmatics team, we have many amazing scientists that are an integral part of our mission to help make the world a healthier, cleaner, safer place to live. To celebrate their impact on our company and their contribution to that mission, we would like to showcase these individuals with a new ‘Scientist Spotlight Series’.
Our first scientist that we will feature is Wendy Harrison, Director, Solution Architecture. Wendy is originally from Australia, and now lives in Boston. She has worked in the bioinformatics industry for more than 25 years.
Scientific Background
Wendy has always been interested in science. She received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of New South Wales. She was originally a synthetic organometallic chemist but switched to informatics starting in quality assurance, moving onto project management, then product management and then finally moving into the services side of scientific software.
What Wendy enjoys most about being a scientist is the thrill of new discoveries, putting the pieces together to solve a puzzle, and helping others to create positive change.
Why Dotmatics
Wendy has been a part of the Dotmatics team for 10 years. She joined after hearing about the great community within the company.
“One thing that made me really interested to join the company was innovative product vision,” said Wendy. “Dotmatics is creating the only true end-to-end platform for scientific discovery, and I think that is incredibly exciting.”
Role at Dotmatics
Her role involves working with customers and prospects to design a workflow that meets their requirements while working with the product to develop a robust solution. Wendy also works with the team on establishing and applying best practices at Dotmatics in the areas of Requirements and Solutions Documentation and Risk Mitigation Procedures. She has been working with some of our larger strategic accounts so that they can save time, analyze data quickly, and then search and find that data.
When it comes to her favorite part about working at Dotmatics, Wendy loves working with the services team and their complementary skill sets, and helping customers get the best experience out of using Dotmatics and enabling them to use Dotmatics efficiently.
