Unlocking New Potential with Prism 10
GraphPad Prism 10 enhances scientific workflows with a more open, FAIR-compliant file format enabling interdisciplinary collaboration and data reuse, alongside new graphing tools like the Graph Inspector, simplified P-value interpretation, and improved performance supporting larger datasets with over a million values per row.
GraphPad Prism is a preferred analysis and graphing solution for scientists, known for its powerful statistical tools, customizable graphs, and features that streamline organizing analyses and results.
With the release of Prism 10, new enhancements have been introduced to further improve scientific workflows. These include a more open file format, new tools for graphing, analysis, and collaboration, as well as improved data handling for faster performance and support for larger datasets.
A More Open & Accessible File Format
The new Prism file format allows organizations to connect scientific workflows, enabling greater collaboration and interdisciplinary research. Data entered into Prism can now be programmatically extracted, allowing different aspects to be explored for further insights. This supports workflows between bench scientists and data scientists, extending beyond a single study.
This development helps break down silos by making Prism data reusable at any point in the research cycle, enhancing scientific progress. The new format also supports FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), ensuring data and analyses are accessible and reusable even outside of Prism, maximizing long-term and collective impact.
New Tools for Graphing, Analysis & Collaboration
Prism 10 introduces several new tools:
- Graph Inspector: Centralizes customization tools for multi-variable graphs, allowing real-time changes and updates, and easier creation of bubble plots.
- Simplified interpretation of results: A new responsive “One or None” P-value summary style simplifies statistical significance interpretation, assigning a single asterisk if below the threshold and none if above, regardless of the alpha value.
- Expanded data capabilities: Performance improvements and support for larger datasets. Data sheets can now have up to 2048 columns (with up to 512 subcolumns each), allowing over 1 million values in a single row.
- Single data point selection: Users can select and highlight a single data point from a multi-variable graph, with subsequent clicks selecting other points in the same group.
- More comprehensive analysis: A new default multiple comparison method for two-way ANOVA compares rows and columns simultaneously, properly correcting for the number and types of comparisons, saving time and reducing the need for separate analyses.
Faster Performance and Support for Larger Data Sets
Prism 10 is designed to handle modern, large, and complex datasets efficiently. Updates include:
- 1.Ability to create up to 2048 columns (each with up to 512 subcolumns) in a single data sheet, doubling previous capacity and vastly exceeding Excel's limits.
- 2.Users can open as many windows as needed, compared to a previous maximum of 16.
- 3.Faster critical actions, such as opening and saving files, making Prism 10 more responsive even with large datasets.
Industry-Leading Integration
GraphPad Prism now features built-in integration with the Dotmatics platform. Scientists can export assay data directly from Dotmatics to Prism, making data easier to find, access, interoperate, and reuse. This integration saves time and removes the need for manual data export, formatting, and import.
With this integration, users can:
- Export aggregated assay data from multiple experiments to Prism
- Export assays from a single screening experiment to Prism
- Create Prism templates with preset analyses and graphs
According to Trajen Head, PhD, head of product strategy for Prism at Dotmatics, the industry is moving towards adopting FAIR standards to address challenges in openness, reproducibility, and collaboration. Dotmatics is committed to helping organizations extract greater value from their data, and this update is a significant advancement for the 750,000 scientists using Prism.
